HANGAR’T is an association based in Nizon which was started in 1992 by Yves Quentel . It was initiated with the idea of keeping the memory of rural life using old photos and creating Pop Art style paintings. The paintings are created by the local people getting together to share their photos and stories.
In 2022 for the Mini Brittany fest, Hangar’t has been invited to come to Galway to display some paintings of Breton rural life in the Connacht Hotel.
They also organised a workshop with young artists from Limelight Creative Studio in Oranmore. The photos used are from the books Old Ireland in Colour 1 and 2. An exhibition was then organised and the paintings are stunning!
